Element: Determine job requirements
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  • Select and use personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
  • Identify job requirements from specifications
       
Element: Establish entry requirements to automotive locking system
  • Establish the reason for entry based on job requirements
  • Establish legal possession in accordance with SOP’s
  • Establish nature of problem and circumstances of prior operation in accordance with SOPs
  • Identify vehicle, locking system and other relevant information from appropriate sources and in accordance with organisational and customer requirements
  • Select entry method based on specific circumstances, customer requirements and in accordance with SOPs
  • Select tools, equipment, materials and consumables appropriate to entry requirements and check for serviceability in accordance with manufacturer specifications and SOPs
  • Use selected tools to gain entry using established industry practices

  • Determine required replacement and/or repaired parts for reassembly
  • Inspect locking system, test and adjust as necessary for compliance with original factory assembly and functioning
       
Element: Finalise entry and reinstatement process
  • Clean work area, tools and equipment and store in accordance with SOPs
  • Instruct customer in accordance with job needs, organisational procedures and manufacturer recommendations
  • Complete documentation, and process in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements

Assessment Tasks

Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
